Connection to donation/transplantation
I received a heart transplant at the University of MN Medical Center on January 13, 2018
Competitions/Events at the 2024 Transplant Games of America
Men’s Tennis Singles and Doubles
How many Transplant Games have you attended?
This will be my third time. I also participated in the 2020 and 2022 Games.
Why do you participate in the Transplant Games?
I’ve always loved sports, but I couldn’t play because of my health. Transplant changed that. I want to help promote organ donation, but I just can’t explain to people what my transplant has really done for me, but I can show them.
One thing you want others to know about donation
When people meet someone who has been transplanted and hear their story the common response is “you’re a miracle”. The one thing I want people to know is they are only seeing part of the “miracle”. Many donors save more than one person and improve the lives of others. My donor matched all major organs plus eyes, marrow, skin and more. I’m hoping to a get a complete list from my donor’s family and put it a card I show people. It’s an amazing story and I want to be accurate. It’s had enough to believe, I don’t want to exaggerate.
