Laura Shaffer
My role is to come alongside potential donor families during a time of great loss to offer support and information as it relates to the donation process. I am also available to support and provide donation information to the hospital staff as they are partnering with us to make donation possible.
Prior to joining LifeSource I worked in various positions where I was coming alongside others during very difficult times; as a police chaplain, pastoral care in a large church and as a spiritual care counselor at Hazelden Betty Ford. My educational background also nicely complements my role as I have a MPH (course work completed) and a Masters of Divinity (MDiv).
I believe fully in and am committed to the mission of our organization, and doing this work feels meaningful and leaves me feeling as if I am contributing to the greater good. I do what I do because I sincerely believe that it is a calling if you will, I am gifted in coming alongside others who are experiencing pain and loss and being a supportive presence and that is needed for those who’s loved one is a potential donor. The mission of the organization, donor families and my co-workers inspire me daily to show up!
