Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update from LifeSource
During this coronavirus pandemic, LifeSource continues saving lives through donation and supporting donor families. Read more about we’re doing to keep our team safe and donation operations strong.
With the mounting concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, LifeSource is taking all proactive measures to ensure donation services continue without interruption. Through this unusual time, our focus remains on our donors, donor families and those waiting for much-needed transplants.
Here is some key information from our organization:
General Precautions We are Taking
at LifeSource
LifeSource
has – and always will – adhere to the highest medical standards. We will
continue to follow our local hospitals’ infection prevention guidelines, which
address COVID-19, as we monitor the outbreak. We are also following guidance
and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), local public
health agencies and the transplantation community, accessing and adapting to
any issues posed by COVID-19. This includes the screening and testing of donors
or potential donors.
All Events at Our Headquarters Have Been Cancelled Through May 8
As the COVID-19 virus continues to grow as a public health concern, we want to ensure that we do our part to limit the spread of the virus. As such, we are cancelling all activities at our headquarters in Minneapolis through May 8. All activities beyond May 8 are currently moving forward as planned.
2020 National Donate Life Month Will be Celebrated Virtually
National Donate Life Month will be celebrated virtually. All flag raisings and memorial events will be canceled to comply with the CDC’s recommendation to avoid gatherings of 50 people or more. All are invited to join the virtual Donate Life Month celebration (officially live on April 1, 2020) and participate in the calendar of events. Sign-up for emails to receive future updates.
Transplant Recipients
The American Society of Transplantation has published a Transplant Community FAQ resource providing detailed information for transplant recipients regarding COVID-19. As more information becomes available, the document will continue to be updated. Regional transplant centers can also be used as a resource for recipients that have questions in our region.
We’ll continue to communicate any developments or new resources that become available. Sign-up for emails to receive future updates.
