Honor Walks
Honor Walks have become an increasingly popular way for hospitals to honor donors and families at the time of organ donation.
Honor Walks have become an increasingly popular way for hospitals to honor donors and families at the time of organ donation. The practice typically involves the medical team lining the hallway in silent reverence as the donor is transported from the Intensive Care Unit to the Operating Room for the recovery of the life-saving gifts.
Family and friends of the donor may also be present, and videos and images of these emotional tributes have been widely shared in the media and online. To support our hospital partners interested in incorporating this impactful practice into their donation programs, LifeSource has created resources, based on policies and materials used at other facilities in our service area and across the United States. These resources are meant to provide hospitals a foundation with the intent that they will be modified and expanded to meet the specific needs of their organization’s culture, facility, and resources.
Your dedicated hospital liaison will also be able to assist you in creating meaningful materials for your hospital and your families.
